Full Stack Engineer

Role Overview

Purpose: To design, develop, and improve software utilizing various engineering methodologies that provide business, platform, and technology capabilities for customers and colleagues at Barclays.

Key Accountabilities:

• Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions using industry-aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools ensuring scalability, maintainability, and performance optimization.
• Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and engineers to define requirements, devise strategies, and ensure alignment with business objectives.
• Promote code quality culture through peer reviews, knowledge sharing, adherence to secure coding practices, and effective unit testing implementation.

Leadership Expectations:

The role may require advising on decision-making, contributing to policy development, leading teams performing complex tasks, setting objectives for employees, coaching staff, and demonstrating Barclays' LEAD behaviors (Listen, Energise, Align, Develop).

To Be Successful In This Role

• Required Skills:
• Proficiency in full-stack development with hands-on experience in Core Java, JPA/Hibernate, Spring framework.
• Solid knowledge of the Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot, Spring-Data).
• Experience building secure and scalable applications following enterprise design principles.
• Rigorous coding practices for RESTful API development with understanding of OpenAPI/Swagger specifications.
• Familiarity with OAuth2, JWT authentication mechanisms.
• Strong database skills in RDBMS (SQL) and exposure to NoSQL technologies.
• Experience with microservices architecture and event-driven design patterns.
• Ability to participate effectively in code reviews.
• Familiarity with SonarQube for code quality and security scanning tools.
• Solid understanding of Maven, Git, CI/CD pipelines, Agile practices, AWS/OpenShift cloud platforms, testing methodologies (unit/testing automation), HTML5/CSS3/JavaScript frameworks (Angular/React).
