Full Stack Engineer

As a Forward Deployed Full Stack Engineer, you will be an integral part of our mission to make Orbital work in the real world. You are not building generic features; you are ensuring Orbital is usable, integrated, secure, and production-ready inside complex enterprise ecosystems spanning cloud, on-premise, hybrid, and air-gapped infrastructure.

Role Overview

You will operate in pods of three alongside ML/AI Engineers and Data Engineers to deliver 2–3 customer deployments per quarter. Your responsibilities include deploying applications into diverse environments (including strict security zones), customizing UIs for control rooms, integrating identity systems (SSO/SAML/OAuth), managing Kubernetes/Helm infrastructure, and troubleshooting production incidents live with customer IT/OT teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Deployment & Customization: Configure networking, access layers, branding, and UX adaptations for operators in industrial settings including air-gapped networks.
• Frontend Engineering: Develop real-time streaming dashboards using Svelte/SvelteKit for AI inference monitoring and integrate chat interfaces with LLM services via WebSocket pipelines.
• Backend Services: Deploy FastAPI microservices, configure REST/GraphQL (Strawberry) APIs, implement bespoke business logic, and connect ML inference endpoints.
• Security & Identity: Integrate customer identity providers, enforce role-based access controls, manage tenant isolation, and satisfy firewall/compliance constraints.
• Data Layer: Manage PostgreSQL schemas using Alembic migrations, optimize query performance, and map custom data structures.
• Infrastructure (DevOps): Own application-level Terraform/Terragrunt provisioning, configure GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines, manage Docker services, and troubleshoot ingress/routing issues.
• Observability: Configure Grafana dashboards, implement Prometheus metrics integrations, set up alerting/SLA monitoring, and debug production failures.

Required Skills

You must possess strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript (React, Node.js) and back-end frameworks like FastAPI or Express. Solid Python knowledge for scripting is essential. Experience with containerized microservices (Docker/Kubernetes), message brokers (Kafka/RabbitMQ), Linux environments, and time-series data handling is highly valued.

• Orbital applications are fully operational in customer environments regardless of infrastructure type.
• Dashboards are actively used by operators for real-time decision making.
• All identity, security, and integration points function seamlessly under enterprise constraints.
• Customer-specific extensions are delivered rapidly to meet unique use cases.
