Full Stack Developer

BookLeaf Publishing seeks a skilled Full-Stack Developer to manage its entire technology stack. This role is pivotal in developing customer-facing author dashboards, internal operations tools, and AI-powered automations. The developer will architect systems, make key technical decisions, and significantly influence the author experience. The position blends product engineering with AI integration, involving web application development and the implementation of intelligent workflows using AI APIs.

Responsibilities:

• Build and scale web applications including author dashboards, internal tools, and operations software, managing features from conception to deployment.
• Integrate AI capabilities, working with LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI) to build AI-powered features, manage API keys, and ensure reliable AI functionality in production.
• Engineer automation and workflows using tools like n8n, connecting databases, APIs, and third-party services.
• Develop and integrate RESTful APIs, including third-party services like payment gateways and print APIs.
• Manage databases, optimize queries, handle deployments, and ensure system performance, security, and scalability.
• Provide technical leadership, evaluate architectural decisions, recommend tools, mentor junior developers, and establish best practices.
• Collaborate with the founding team to translate business needs into technical solutions and communicate technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• Strong full-stack development experience with proficiency in frontend (React, Next.js) and backend (Node.js, Python) technologies.
• Hands-on experience with AI/ML integration, LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic), prompt engineering, and deploying AI in production.
• Experience with automation platforms like n8n, Make, or Zapier, including building complex workflows.
• Solid understanding of databases (SQL/NoSQL), API design (REST, webhooks), authentication, and cloud infrastructure.
• Proven ability to manage projects end-to-end.
• Familiarity with Bubble or a strong willingness to learn it quickly, as current operations rely on it.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, suitable for a startup environment.

Bonus Points:

• Experience with payment gateway integrations (Razorpay, Stripe).
• Familiarity with e-commerce platforms (Shopify) and print-on-demand workflows.
• DevOps practices (CI/CD, containerization).
• Understanding of the publishing or media industry.
• Prior startup experience in a multi-hat role.
