Frontend Engineer (Freelance Hourly Contract) at Synthires – Remote Position

Synthires is seeking experienced Frontend Engineers and Full-Stack Developers to evaluate AI-generated web interfaces and code. This evaluation-focused role requires expertise in comparing AI-generated frontend implementations against real-world reference websites, assessing visual fidelity and code quality.

Key Responsibilities:

• Render reference webpages and AI-generated implementations at a 1920×1080 viewport and evaluate visual accuracy, including layout, spacing, typography, colors, borders, images, layering, and overflow behavior.
• Review source code for HTML structure, CSS architecture, responsiveness, maintainability, and implementation quality.
• Identify technical shortcuts like excessive hardcoding, absolute positioning, poorly structured markup, or image-based recreations.
• Test responsive behavior across viewport sizes and detect layout or usability defects.
• Use browser DevTools to inspect elements, computed styles, DOM structure, and interactive states.
• Provide detailed, evidence-based written justifications for implementation strengths and weaknesses.
• Distinguish between genuinely broken tasks and challenging ones.

Qualifications:

• 3–8 years of professional web development experience, with strong expertise in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and responsive web development.
• Deep understanding of semantic HTML, Flexbox, CSS Grid, media queries, and responsive layouts.
• Proficient in browser Developer Tools, including DOM inspection, computed styles, and viewport testing.
• Ability to work from the command line, troubleshoot asset paths, and extract archives.
• Strong written English for clear, detailed technical justifications.
• Attention to detail for identifying subtle visual and structural differences.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with RLHF, preference labeling, or AI model evaluation projects.
• Pixel-perfect design-to-code experience, including work with design systems.
• Knowledge of web accessibility (ARIA, semantic landmarks, heading hierarchy).
• Familiarity with common AI-generated code failure patterns.
• Experience with web scraping, DOM parsing, or complex website structures.

Equipment Requirements:

• Desktop/laptop for displaying 1920×1080 viewport.
• Local development environment and static web server.
• Administrator access for installing development tools.

Project Requirements:

• Each evaluation unit takes 2–3 hours, completed in defined time windows.
• Requires uninterrupted focus and strong frontend/UI implementation expertise.
• Excludes backend, ML/data-science, mobile-native, or DevOps backgrounds.

Compensation:

Competitive hourly rate of $90/hour for completed evaluation work.
