About the Role
Join Mercury's Design Systems team to help product teams build interfaces that feel consistent, accessible, and carefully considered. As a Frontend Engineer, you will evolve shared components and patterns, making it easier for teams across Mercury to turn good ideas into well-crafted software.
Your Responsibilities
- Build shared components and patterns in React and TypeScript, turning recurring product needs into flexible solutions used across different experiences.
- Partner with designers and product engineers to connect design intent with working software. Evolve components and tokens across Figma and code using feedback from real product work.
- Improve the quality of experiences by ensuring accessibility, thoughtful interactions, and reliable behavior through implementation and testing.
- Makes the design system easier to use by helping teams adopt shared patterns and improving documentation and workflows.
- Leverage AI tools to explore approaches, evaluate generated code, verify results in context, and contribute useful solutions back to the team.
What You'll Bring

- A foundation in React, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS with the ability to explain code decisions.
- Care for visual craft, user experience, accessible interfaces, and interaction details.
- Hands-on fluency with AI coding tools: providing context, evaluating/improving generated code, and verifying functionality.
- An ownership mindset, willingness to learn, clear communication, and ability to use feedback to improve your approach.
- Curiosity about reusable systems and tradeoffs involved in serving different product needs with shared components.
- Collaborative spirit: solving problems alongside designers and engineers to understand the needs behind every request.
Experience with design systems, prototyping, or developer tooling is a plus. You don't need prior experience holding a specific Design Systems role; bring useful skills and ideas instead!
Total Rewards
The total rewards package at Mercury includes base salary, equity (stock options/RSUs), and benefits.
- US employees: $140,800—$158,400 USD per year.
Canadian employees: $115,700—$149,700 CAD per year.
