Frontend Desktop Engineer

Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Frontend Desktop Engineer to help build the future of decentralized communication. You will work on Keet Desktop, our cross-platform P2P communications application built with React and running on the Pear runtime (an open-source technology stack eliminating traditional server infrastructure). This role involves UI/UX implementation, performance optimization, and contributing to a robust peer-to-peer network akin to BitTorrent principles.

What You'll Do

• Develop and maintain Keet Desktop for Windows, macOS, Linux using React/Preact and TypeScript.
• Create modular, maintainable, well-tested code with strong state management (Redux/Zustand).
• Optimize UI performance focusing on rendering speed and memory management.
• Solidify P2P connections and debugging capabilities in a complex distributed system.

Requirements

Mandatory:

• Proven experience with React/Preact and modern JavaScript/TypeScript (production-scale).
• Strong competency in state management frameworks.
• Solid testing & debugging skills for complex frontend applications.
• Deep interest or hands-on experience with P2P technologies, distributed systems, or WebRTC media streams.
• Able to thrive in a remote, globally distributed team environment.

Preferred:

• Desktop app development experience (Electron, Tauri).
• Cross-platform application building skills.
• Bonus: Contributions to Open Source projects in P2P or decentralized tech.
