Frontend Desktop Engineer

Role Overview

We are seeking a Frontend Desktop Engineer to develop and maintain Keet Desktop, our cross-platform P2P communications application built with React on the open-source Pear runtime. You will work remotely from anywhere in the world.

About Our Tech Stack

• Pear: An open-source peer-to-peer development platform eliminating traditional server infrastructure needs.
• Keet: A flagship P2P communications app enabling messaging, file sharing, and secure data collaboration while maintaining user sovereignty over personal data.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop scalable UI/UX for desktop applications using React/Preact and modern JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Implement robust state management solutions (Redux, Zustand, etc.).
• Create modular, maintainable, and thoroughly tested codebases.
• Optimize application performance regarding rendering and memory usage.
• Leverage deep knowledge of P2P technologies or distributed systems to build resilient data replication networks.

Preferred Qualifications

Ideal candidates have experience with desktop development frameworks like Electron or Tauri, familiarity with WebRTC for real-time media communication, and a track record in optimizing cross-platform applications (macOS, Windows, Linux). Contributions to open-source projects are highly valued.
