The Amazon Music Product Design team is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Front-End Engineer with a proven record of delivery, ownership, and meticulous attention to detail. You will play a key role in defining how the Amazon Music design team delivers world-class experiences across mobile apps, web, TV, and voice platforms, embracing diverse musical cultures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Contribute to our library of reusable foundations, components, and patterns.

• Write high-quality, clean, efficient, performant, and well-documented code for reusable and modular components.
• Document front-end engineering best practices for cross-functional team members.

• Balance project constraints, minimizing short-term workarounds while focusing on future scalability and extensions.

A Day in the Life:

• Support the Design Systems & Engineering team in user-interface development, prototyping, and tooling to deliver exceptional user interfaces and experiences for the Amazon Music app.
• Apply expertise in application architecture, reusable component frameworks, and component design intricacies.
• Create and maintain mechanisms for delivering high-quality code, including libraries, motion frameworks, and design prototyping explorations.
• Collaborate closely with UX designers, motion designers, and fellow engineers on feature designs, prototypes, dynamic app animations, and the Design System component library.
• Communicate technical feasibility and alternative solutions to peers when encountering roadblocks.
• Utilize prototyping to extend design explorations and ensure high-quality UX across the app.
• Contribute to the testing, deployment, and maintenance of our component library, which is utilized across the engineering organization.

About the Team:

This role is part of a local product design team comprised of UX designers and a program manager, with close collaboration with the embedded Design Systems & Engineering team. The Design Systems & Engineering team is responsible for building our UI library, and developing and distributing prototypes for innovation and user testing. We establish process standards, build trust with partners, prioritize action within tight parameters, and exercise sound judgment in ambiguous or uncharted areas. We partner with experience teams to enable the development of bar-raising app designs.

Basic Qualifications:

• 2+ years of professional front-end, web, or mobile software development experience using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
• 1+ year of experience with computer science fundamentals (object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem-solving, and complexity analysis).
• Experience with JavaScript frameworks such as Angular and React.
• Knowledge of professional software engineering best practices across the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence.
• Knowledge of computer science fundamentals such as object-oriented design, operating systems, algorithms, data structures, and complexity analysis.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1+ year of Agile software development methodology experience.
• Experience with common front-end technologies like HTML, CSS, JS, TypeScript, and Node.
• Experience building performant cross-platform mobile applications using React Native and GraphQL.
• Working knowledge of iOS, Android, MacOS, Windows, Linux, and Web platforms.
