About the Role: Founding Engineer, Detection & AI

Carbynix is hiring our first senior engineer to build its platform alongside the founder. This is a remote-friendly founding role with significant equity and ownership scope.

You Will Own:

• The Reasoning Pipeline: Transforming raw alerts into signed, evidence-backed verdicts using advanced AI/ML logic.
• AI & Machine Learning: Implementing LLM-based reasoning and dynamic models that learn specific environments to catch what static rules miss.
• AWS Platform Architecture: Designing a serverless, multi-tenant backend with strict tenant isolation and least-privilege access, meeting SOC 2 and federal readiness bars.
• Automated Response: Turning verdicts into safe, auditable containment actions on endpoints.
• Customer Onboarding & Agent Enrollment: Rapidly securing new environments for monitoring.
• Detection Content Engineering: Writing and testing rules mapped to MITRE ATT&CK with software-level rigor.

Who You Are (Requirements):

• 10+ years of shipping production software with end-to-end ownership experience.
• Strong expertise in Python and AWS cloud architecture design, operation, and cost management.
• Hands-on experience with applied LLMs and production ML: training, tuning, serving models (not just calling APIs).
• Detection engineering mindset: familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK, adversarial inputs, idempotency, and least privilege principles.

Nice to Have:

• DFIR background or experience in EDR/MDR/SIEM environments.
• MLOps skills including model registries, training pipelines, and drift monitoring.
• Familiarity with compliance frameworks like SOC 2, NIST 800-53, CMMC, or HIPAA/GLBA.

Compensation & Structure:

This is a founding role offering meaningful equity. We expect to reach full market salary upon seed close. For the right candidate, we offer an option to start on contract or fractional terms with conversion at the seed stage. Military and veteran backgrounds are highly valued.
