Founding Backend Engineer

About the Company

A self-funded startup under ten people building a mobile trading product for professional, high-volume traders in Digital Assets.

The Role

Own every part of the backend that is not money movement and take it from zero to one. You join as one of three founding engineers in a flat team working directly with the founder and the product lead.

Mission & Responsibilities

• Build a robust backend over third-party market data and chain providers, implementing failover so launch never waits on a single vendor.
• Design and ship in-house Solana and EVM indexing to replace external providers after launch at high volumes.
• Construct the WebSocket fanout streaming live prices/positions through traffic spikes.
• Develop data serving and caching solutions using Postgres and AWS/GCP that remain fast and cost-efficient under load.
• Lead platform feature development and architecture alongside the product lead and founder.

Requirements

• Built and owned a backend platform at a brokerage, wallet, or mobile trading app in production within the last three years.
• Shipped and ran production services in Rust or Go.
• Built or ran an on-chain indexer (Solana or EVM) in production.
• Ran WebSocket fanout at scale through traffic spikes.
• Served live data to a consumer-scale user base with measurable performance metrics.
