Forward Deployed Engineer

We are seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) to join Sia's AI Factory, embedded directly within a client's engineering team. This role combines hands-on software engineering with client-facing delivery to close platform gaps and deliver production use cases.

• Work embedded within the client’s team, participating in planning, standups, and delivery activities alongside engineers from Sia and clients.
• Translate client needs into scoped technical deliverables, clear acceptance criteria, and measurable outcomes.
• Design, develop, and deploy production-quality Python backend services, APIs, connectors, and integrations.
• Identify and address platform gaps within the agreed scope, aligning architectural changes with relevant owners.
• Develop and integrate RAG pipelines, tool-calling agents, and LLM workflows using approved model gateways and data sources.
• Deliver use cases alongside platform improvements, balancing delivery timelines with maintainability, security, and reliability.
• Apply code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD practices, logging, and monitoring; track quality, latency, and cost for delivered AI components.
• Communicate technical trade-offs, progress, blockers, and risks clearly to client stakeholders.
• Document technical decisions and operational procedures to enable knowledge transfer so the client's team can maintain and operate the solution.

• Educational Background: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience Level: 3–6 years of software development with a strong focus on Python backend production work.
• Tech Stack:
• Strong skills in FastAPI, Flask, Django for API design and system integrations.
• SQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL), Cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), Docker, Git, CI/CD tools.
• LLM & AI Experience: Practical experience with RAG, LLM applications, tool-calling workflows, evaluation metrics, and safety considerations.
• Embedded Work Style:
• Comfort working within an embedded client team to clarify ambiguous requirements and take ownership of deliverables.
• Enterprise Environment: Experience working in governed environments with approved libraries, data access controls, and security review processes.
• Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written skills for explaining technical decisions to stakeholders at all levels.
• Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with agent orchestration frameworks, vector search tools, enterprise GenAI platforms, Kubernetes, or NoSQL databases.
• Domain Experience (Good to have): Spark/Databricks, prior consulting delivery experience, or background in regulated domains like financial services, healthcare, or the public sector.
