Forward Deployed Engineer

HackerRank is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) to work directly with our clients. This role is pivotal in serving as the primary technical point of contact for customer engagements. You will lead pilot programs, conduct demonstrations, and provide essential support to customers throughout their evaluation and adoption phases. This position uniquely combines deep customer interaction with hands-on technical execution.

What You Will Do

• Lead customer-facing interactions, including discovery sessions, pilot implementations, and product demonstrations, acting as the main technical authority for prospects and existing clients.
• Collaborate on-site with clients, including their engineering teams, recruiters, and business leaders, to thoroughly understand their developer needs, listen empathetically, and design practical, objective-driven solutions.
• Ensure customer projects remain on schedule through diligent execution and consistent, proactive communication.
• Leverage appropriate tools, including AI where beneficial, to deliver prompt and reliable outcomes, thereby enhancing HackerRank's customer experience.
• Work closely with Product, Engineering, and Go-to-Market teams to ensure the customer's perspective is effectively represented and incorporated.

Who You Are

• A customer-facing technical leader with comprehensive full-stack expertise, capable of configuring, debugging, and explaining web applications, integrations, and generating API scripts (Ruby or Python proficiency is desired).
• Skilled in leading discussions with prospects and enterprise clients on-site, adept at gathering requirements, defining technical strategies, and delivering impactful, measurable results.
• An articulate communicator able to engage effectively with technical experts and simplify complex topics for non-technical audiences.
• A highly organized and driven individual capable of planning, executing, and completing projects, ensuring meticulous organization throughout.
• Possess a leadership style characterized by empathy, enthusiasm, and a strong problem-solving orientation.

Bonus Points

• Previous experience as a software engineer, solutions engineer, or sales engineer, particularly within HR tech, ATS platforms, IDEs, developer tools, or API-first/integration-heavy systems.
• A proven history of successfully guiding projects from initial scoping through to final delivery, skillfully balancing customer requirements with technical considerations.
