FinOps Data Analyst

NielsenIQ is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented FinOps Data Analyst to join our Cloud Financial Operations team in Chennai, TN. This role is crucial for analyzing cloud cost, usage, and consumption data across multiple platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.) to drive cost efficiency, application optimization, and strategic decision-making. The FinOps Data Analyst will act as a key liaison between finance, engineering, and product teams to ensure cloud investments align with business objectives and maximize value.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze and interpret extensive datasets related to cloud cost, usage, and consumption across major cloud providers.
• Develop and maintain advanced Power BI dashboards and reports using DAX to track cloud spend, identify trends, and detect anomalies.
• Conduct causality and correlation analysis to pinpoint cost drivers and understand usage patterns.
• Identify opportunities for resource right-sizing and scaling to enhance performance and reduce cloud costs.
• Collaborate with application teams to find application improvement opportunities by analyzing usage and performance data.
• Integrate and analyze application reference data and revenue streams to correlate with cloud cost (COGS) and deliver actionable insights.
• Support billing profile optimization and provide recommendations for pricing models, reservations, and commitments.
• Prepare and deliver executive-level reports and presentations that translate complex data into clear, strategic recommendations.
• Partner with finance and engineering teams to support forecasting, budgeting, and cost allocation processes.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in data analysis, cloud cost optimization, or FinOps roles.
• Solid understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP, including their pricing models.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python for data analysis and manipulation.
• Advanced skills in Power BI and DAX for creating interactive dashboards and complex data models.
• Familiarity with FinOps principles, cloud billing tools (e.g., AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management), and effective tagging strategies.
• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to present complex data to non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications:

• FinOps Certified Practitioner or equivalent certification.
• Experience with COGS modeling and revenue-cost correlation analysis.
• Knowledge of data warehousing and ETL processes.
• Experience working in Agile or cross-functional team environments.
