Field Service Engineer - Ahmedabad, Gujarat
Position Overview:
As a Field Service Engineer at TOMRA Food in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, you will be instrumental in delivering exceptional service to ensure our clients' machines operate at peak performance and to provide an outstanding customer experience. We are seeking a hands-on, presentable individual with a strong customer-facing aptitude. Ideal candidates are team-oriented, possess critical thinking skills, take initiative, and demonstrate resilience in achieving objectives. You will work both independently and collaboratively to manage the delivery, installation, and ongoing maintenance of our sophisticated solutions.
Field Service Engineers possess a strong understanding of machine operations, encompassing mechanical, electrical, computational, and assembly aspects. You will be responsible for meeting customer supply demands, ensuring end-to-end system quality from installation through preventative maintenance, and guaranteeing our customers achieve optimal results from our machinery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure machines perform to customer expectations.
- Respond promptly to machine issues in the field, ensuring timely and effective resolution. Communicate clearly with customers regarding plans and potential costs for complex issues.
- Problem-solve to enhance operational and mechanical efficiency.
- Troubleshoot and resolve machine problems and performance issues.
- Conduct preventative maintenance, including pre-season and post-season servicing, to optimize machine performance.
- Perform the removal and installation of mechanical components such as shafts, bearings, belts, and motors.
- Collaborate with engineering and R&D teams to refine work instructions and contribute to the development of assembly and testing procedures.
- Maintain strong relationships with sales leadership by providing customer updates and identifying potential sales opportunities or customer concerns for follow-up.
- Liaise closely with the Customer Care Centre (CCC) team, providing regular updates.
- Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of company tools and equipment.
- Assist in the training and development of new Field Service Engineers as required.
Qualifications:
- A relevant university degree, such as a Bachelor of Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering field, is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a field service engineer or equivalent relevant education.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics.
- Solid understanding of electronics, electrical assembly, and wiring.
- Working knowledge of PCs and the MS Office suite.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and governmental regulations.
- Proven ability to solve practical problems.
- Excellent customer service skills are essential.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from diverse audiences, including management, clients, customers, and the public.
- Fluency in English and Hindi (both written and verbal) is required.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- A positive attitude with a strong customer service mindset.
- Knowledge in PC building, repairing, and diagnostic testing.
- Experience engaging with customers in a service delivery environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform frequent bending, kneeling, standing, and work in confined spaces.
- Capacity to work effectively under pressure.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
- Ability to distinguish between a full range of colors.
- No major food allergies that would impede the ability to work in food-related environments.
Work Environment:
- Willingness to work in food processing plants, farms, cold storage facilities, and outdoors in varying temperatures.
- Flexibility to work overtime as requested.
Travel:
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively, up to 80% of the time, across Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Bangalore, and other domestic/international locations as required.
- Readiness to undertake travel for periods of 2 weeks or more at a time.
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License and be able to drive without restrictions.
- Must be able to obtain a valid passport for international travel.
