EY-Advisory - Data and Analytics – Senior – Data Engineer (Scala)

The Opportunity

We are seeking Senior Big Data Experts with expertise in the Financial Services domain and hands-on experience with the Big Data ecosystem.

Primary Skills and Key Responsibilities

• Strong knowledge of Spark, with a solid understanding of its framework and performance tuning.
• Proficiency in Scala and SQL.
• Good exposure to one of the cloud technologies: GCP, Azure, or AWS.
• Hands-on experience in designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and solutions for efficient management and processing of large datasets.
• Demonstrate a flexible, proactive, and self-motivated working style with strong personal ownership of problem resolution.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal (formal and informal).
• Ability to multitask under pressure and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Must be a team player, enjoying collaborative and cooperative team environments.
• Adaptable to new technologies and standards.
• Participate in all aspects of the Big Data solution delivery lifecycle, including analysis, design, development, testing, production deployment, and support.

Nice to Have Skills

• Design, develop, and deploy robust and scalable data pipelines using GCP services such as BigQuery, Dataflow, Data Composer/Cloud Composer (Airflow), and related technologies.
• Good experience with GCP technology areas including Data Store, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Persistent Disk IAM, Roles, Projects, and Organization.
• Understanding and familiarity with all Hadoop Ecosystem components and Hadoop Administrative Fundamentals.
• Experience working with NoSQL databases such as HBase, Cassandra, or MongoDB.
• Experience with HDFS, Hive, and Impala.
• Experience with schedulers like Airflow, NiFi, etc.
• Experience in Hadoop clustering and auto-scaling.
• Develop standardized practices for delivering new products and capabilities using Big Data technologies, including data acquisition, transformation, and analysis.
• Define and develop client-specific best practices for data management within a Hadoop environment on Azure cloud.

Qualifications

• BE/BTech/MCA/MBA.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in one or more relevant areas.
• Total of 3-7 years of industry experience.

Ideally, you’ll also have

• Experience in Banking and Capital Markets domains.

• Utilize an issue-based approach to deliver growth, market, and portfolio strategy engagements for corporates.
• Strong communication, presentation, and team-building skills, with experience in producing high-quality reports, papers, and presentations.
• Experience in executing and managing research and analysis of companies and markets, preferably from a commercial due diligence standpoint.
