Full Job Description
EY GDS (Global Delivery Services) is seeking a skilled Data Governance Senior for their Kolkata, West Bengal, India location. This role is part of the Data and Analytics (D&A) team, focused on helping clients solve complex business challenges through data and technology. The ideal candidate will be a Project Delivery expert with a strong understanding of enterprise data ecosystems and governance models, proficient in defining strategies for policy adherence and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy and analyze Data Quality (DQ) queries using statistical analysis and metrics.
- Collaborate with data stewards to analyze DQ exceptions, understand their scope and impact, and facilitate remediation.
- Conduct business analysis to correlate issue statistics, aggregate results, and identify root causes or recommend permanent fixes, with knowledge of SDLC and issue remediation processes.
- Utilize advanced SQL and Python skills for data quality roles, with a preference for financial services or relevant industry experience.
- Define and implement enterprise data governance strategies, including controls, processes, metrics, and roles throughout the information lifecycle.
- Manage datasets and execute data quality checks within Collibra to ensure data accuracy, consistency, completeness, and reliability.
- Configure and implement the Collibra Data Quality framework and rules.
- Define data quality rules and set up automated checks for structured and unstructured data.
- Collaborate with data governance teams to align data quality policies with organizational goals.
- Monitor the performance of data quality rules and checks in Collibra, track issues, and work with data stewards for timely resolution.
- Generate and interpret data quality reports, scorecards, and dashboards from Collibra.
- Work with business units to identify root causes of data quality problems and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with business and IT teams to understand data requirements and quality standards.
- Demonstrate proficiency in SQL for querying data and analyzing data quality issues.
- Apply data profiling, data cleansing, and data validation techniques.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to gather insights and champion information governance needs.
- Develop and mature information governance across the full information lifecycle, encompassing data governance, analytics governance, AI governance, and content governance.
- Develop a robust operating model defining the structure, roles, responsibilities, and processes for effective information governance.
- Enable governance, oversight, and coordination across key stakeholders to ensure accountability and ownership of consumable, protected, and compliant information.
- Define and activate an enterprise approach for controls, processes, metrics, and roles to make information assets available throughout their lifecycle, including policies, information quality, tools strategy, monitoring, enforcement, metrics, and change management.
- Collaborate with digital and business units to ensure necessary tools, technologies, and resources support information governance.
- Align and enhance existing processes with industry standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Promote a culture of accountability and compliance.
- Support the scaling of existing data governance services.
What Experience You'll Need
- Demonstrated experience and strong thought leadership in data and/or information governance strategies, policies, and frameworks from ideation to execution.
- High level of working knowledge regarding industry trends, solutions, best practices, information governance concepts, and process improvement practices.
- Digitally savvy with an understanding of how technology can best be utilized to achieve information governance goals.
- Advanced understanding of data and/or information governance, including areas such as records and information management, policies and standards, information lifecycle management, information quality, risk management, and monitoring/enforcement.
- Experience in the financial services industry is preferred.
- Experience leading large governance projects in a matrixed environment is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in data or information governance, knowledge management, or a related field.
What Could Set You Apart
- Professional certifications in information governance, data management, or related areas (e.g., CIPP, CIPM, CDMP).
- Experience with governance tools and technologies.
- Previous experience in information (Data, Content, Analytics) governance.
- A Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, PR, marketing, or a related program is required.
- 5+ years of experience in supporting or creating strategic communication programs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills across multiple channels.
- Project management and/or change management experience is a plus.
- Background in IT and/or financial services organizations is preferred.
- Ability to work independently across different cross-functional teams.
- Understanding of industry trends in effective, modern internal communications.
