Join TerrAscend, a leader in the cannabis industry, as an Extraction Technician in our Boonton, NJ facility. This role is crucial for ensuring efficient production of high-quality cannabis products while adhering to strict safety and regulatory standards. You will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of our extraction processes, including equipment maintenance, meticulous cleaning, and accurate documentation. This full-time, onsite position is ideal for individuals with a strong scientific background and a dedication to quality. We are particularly interested in candidates with an entry-level background who are eager to learn and grow within a dynamic team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute the daily production schedule to meet efficiency targets.
- Perform pre-shift checks on all working areas, tools, and processing equipment to ensure they are in optimal condition.
- Thoroughly clean and sanitize all glassware, transfer materials, storage vessels, tools, and working surfaces.
- Ensure all extraction and processing activities strictly comply with Ilera quality and safety standards, regulatory requirements, and food safety protocols.
- Safely operate, maintain, and clean extraction production equipment, including supercritical fluid and solvent extraction systems, distillation systems, pumps, filters, and evaporators, following established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Safely handle and dispose of hazardous materials such as Butane, Propane, and Ethanol, adhering to SOPs and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
- Manage and dispose of cannabis waste in accordance with defined SOPs.
- Generate accurate and precise data for all batch, equipment, quality, inventory, and state-mandated seed-to-sale documentation.
- Meticulously complete all associated logs and tracking records.
- Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of Ilera processes.
- Maintain a safe and orderly workspace to ensure the safety of yourself and colleagues.
- Assist with other post-processing production tasks, packaging, labeling, and Research & Development (R&D) as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field.
- Demonstrated positive attitude and self-motivation.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
- Physical ability to push, pull, or lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Capability to perform physical tasks including sitting, standing, kneeling, bending, squatting, and walking for extended periods.
- Dexterity to use hands and fingers for touching, handling, feeling, and picking.
- Experience or willingness to work with hazardous chemicals (e.g., butane, propane, ethanol) following strict safety guidelines.
- Proficiency in utilizing cleaning chemicals (e.g., bleach) for facility and equipment maintenance.
- Willingness to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including clothing protection, close-toed non-slip shoes, and optional ear/eye protection.
- Must successfully pass a background check.
