External Contractor

Udacity, an Accenture company, is seeking an External Contractor to serve as a Mentor for its AI-Powered Software Engineer track. This role involves providing world-class technical support to learners on their Nanodegree journey. Mentors will conduct weekly virtual sessions for community support and live office hours.

About the Role:

Mentors are industry experts dedicated to student success, fostering a #studentfirst environment. Responsibilities include providing technical assistance via an online community forum, answering course-related questions, facilitating learning, and hosting weekly live virtual support sessions. You will also be responsible for redirecting learners and escalating complex issues when necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

• Offer technical support through an online community forum.
• Address student inquiries regarding course content and assist learners facing difficulties.
• Conduct one weekly live virtual session for real-time student support.
• Guide learners to appropriate support channels and escalate issues as needed.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Fluent in written and spoken English.
• Eligibility: A minimum of 7 years of industry experience or a master's degree in a relevant field.

Technical Expertise:

• Hands-on software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Python or another backend language.
• Solid experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and scalable test design.
• Strong understanding of design patterns (creational, structural, behavioral).
• Experience with microservices and cloud-native architectures.
• Ability to design and review scalable system architectures.
• Experience utilizing AI-assisted coding tools in development workflows.
• Capability to evaluate AI-generated code for quality, security, and maintainability.
• Strong code review and debugging skills.
• Experience with production-grade distributed systems is preferred.
• Experience in teaching technical concepts, public speaking, or organizing technical webinars is a plus.
• Positive attitude and ability to build rapport with students.
• Flexibility to undertake this part-time role as an external contractor.
