Expert Java Developer

About the role:

As an Expert Java Developer at Ciklum, you will become part of a cross-functional development team engineering experiences of tomorrow. You will work on migrating and modernizing customer legacy applications to MongoDB while leveraging cutting-edge GenAI advancements.

• Be open to adopting new technologies and approaches on projects as they evolve, especially those relating to Generative AI (GenAI) advancements
• Stay at the forefront of the industry by staying abreast of the latest GenAI advancements and leveraging cutting-edge developments to fulfill migration projects based in Chennai or remote locations suitable for Indian talent
• Participate as a software developer on small Agile teams, delivering software-based solutions for migrating and modernizing customer legacy applications to MongoDB
• Follow existing best practice migration playbooks where applicable and be prepared to innovate to fill in gaps with creative solutions to solve challenges on each specific project within the Chennai tech ecosystem or remotely
• Actively participate in sprint grooming, planning, and showcases with ideas and suggestions relevant to the Indian market context
• Take direction from the technical lead and project manager on projects, raising identified challenges and potential solutions to the team when applicable for clients globally served by Ciklum India
• Study the current state of each legacy application and the desired target state outlined by the customer and contribute to the planning, design, and solution from getting from source state to target state on each project while working in Chennai or virtually
• Be prepared to change project direction if customer or account team priorities change within the global Ciklum framework

Requirements:

• 10+ years of experience working as a software developer (Senior/Expert level)
• Strong proficiency in Java
• Strong experience in building applications that interact with relational databases using SQL and PL/SQL
• Solid experience in Enterprise Java (J2EE / JavaEE / Spring) application architectures common in Indian IT services
• History of delivering high-cadence modern applications with applied Agile methodologies, test-first development approaches, adopting CI/CD pipelines and using Git version control within an India-based or remote team

Desirable:

• Working knowledge of microservices architectures and Domain-Driven Design approaches relevant to global standards
• Some experience and knowledge of Python, JavaScript/Node.js, and ORMs like Hibernate or JPA
• Extra bonus skills (if missing, we will provide rapid onboarding enablement): Experience in nascent GenAI technologies such as using OpenAI API with GPT LLMs
• Practical experience of using MongoDB for modern data stack implementations
