Job Opportunity: Experienced AI/ML Engineer – Predictive Maintenance at Boeing India

Location: Bengaluru / Bangalore, India

Company Overview

Boeing India Engineering & Technology Center (BIETC), located in Bangalore, is a significant hub within Boeing's global engineering network, contributing to advanced aerospace and aviation technologies, products, and services. Boeing Artificial Intelligence (Boeing AI) India, a part of BIETC, drives innovation and develops cutting-edge technologies for Boeing's product lifecycle, encompassing commercial aircraft, military vehicles, space systems, and advanced prototypes. We focus on developing and transitioning new technologies to solve complex customer challenges and enhance operational efficiency.

Position Overview

Boeing AI India is seeking an Experienced AI/ML Engineer specializing in Predictive Maintenance to join our team. This role is crucial for designing and implementing next-generation AI/ML solutions to enhance our Airplane Prognostics & Health Management (PHM) capabilities. You will apply AI techniques to predict aircraft system health and maintenance needs.

Key responsibilities include co-leading and participating in projects to develop analytics solutions that improve aircraft performance, enhance diagnostics and prognostics for aircraft systems, increase fleet operational efficiency, optimize engineering and manufacturing processes, and simulate aircraft lifecycle scenarios. You will also support the development of future AI/ML strategies within Boeing.

This position is based in Bangalore, India, and requires collaboration with global teams. Occasional travel (up to 10%) within India and internationally may be necessary.

Position Responsibilities

  • Analyze requirements and aircraft operational data to design and prototype AI/ML solutions for aircraft sub-systems diagnostics and prognostics.
  • Apply advanced Prognostics & Health Monitoring techniques to assess aircraft system health and predict component failures.
  • Develop and refine algorithms for Remaining Useful Life (RUL) estimation and early degradation detection.
  • Implement innovative approaches for anomaly detection, fault isolation, and health prediction using physics-based, probabilistic, and machine learning methods in Python, Matlab/Simulink, etc.
  • Support building and productionizing ML models (anomaly detection, RUL, fault classification) using modern stacks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn) and MLOps practices.
  • Implement edge/cloud architectures and scalable storage solutions for fleet-wide telemetry and real-time analytics.
  • Design explainable visualizations and dashboards to communicate KPIs, model outputs, and uncertainties to stakeholders.
  • Apply explainable AI, privacy-preserving methods, and federated learning where appropriate.
  • Execute AI testing, verification, and validation, including defining test datasets, metrics, simulations, and post-deployment monitoring.
  • Ensure data governance, security, and compliance.
  • Conduct rapid proofs-of-concept, pilot programs, and vendor evaluations.
  • Collaborate with international cross-functional teams and customers to translate technical work into business value.
  • Produce technical documentation, progress reports, and deployment playbooks.

Basic Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in data analytics, machine learning, and AI models.
  • Strong understanding of classical machine learning (regression, classification).
  • Proficiency in Python with libraries like Pandas, Numpy, and Scikit-Learn.
  • Expertise in deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch.
  • Solid SQL skills and experience with NoSQL databases and data modeling.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience in failure diagnostics & prognostics (anomaly detection, fault isolation, RUL estimation).
  • Specialization in Data Science, AI/ML from a reputable academic institution.
  • Experience in Predictive Maintenance or Integrated Vehicle Health Management (IVHM).
  • NLP and Generative AI skills.
  • Experience with image preprocessing techniques.
  • Experience with probabilistic modeling and reliability modeling.
  • Experience with digital twin and simulation of aircraft systems.
  • Experience with DevOps & MLOps practices.
