Engineering Manager

Tekion is seeking an Engineering Manager/Sr. Engineering Manager to build next-generation cloud business applications for our TAMC team (~20 engineers), including Staff/Senior engineers, Applied ML specialists, and SDETs. You will lead two Scrum teams in establishing a management layer as the organization scales.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own delivery accountability: manage sprint cadence, cross-team dependencies, risk tracking, and executive reporting on engineering progress for both India and US time zones.
• Set and enforce technical standards including hexagonal architecture discipline, AI-native integration patterns, code quality gates, and observability standards across distributed microservices.
• Serve as the primary counterpart to product and business partners, translating requirements into execution plans while maintaining shared understanding of build goals.
• Coordinate with platform teams (Agentic Engine, Core Platform, ARC backend, Design) to ensure timely dependency resolution.
• Hire, develop, and retain top engineering talent through full pipeline ownership, career ladder definition, performance reviews, and compensation decisions.
• Drive the technical roadmap for AI capabilities in partnership with ML Architects and Applied Scientists.
• Maintain deep technical knowledge by participating in architecture reviews to unblock engineers on complex distributed systems and AI integration challenges.

Requirements:

• 12+ years of software engineering experience with 5+ years leading teams of 15+ engineers (managing managers).
• Deep expertise in Java backend, event-driven architecture, and AWS-based SaaS platforms using multi-database stacks.
• Proven track record enforcing hexagonal architecture at scale to ensure domain isolation.
• Demonstrated experience partnering with ML/AI teams on production systems involving LLM integration and agentic pipelines.
• Experience leading high-performance, distributed engineering cultures in fast-paced environments.
