Engineering Manager

Rubrik is looking for a driven and experienced Engineering Manager to lead our Active Directory Development team in Bangalore. This pivotal role involves the design, development, and implementation of advanced data protection solutions specifically for Active Directory environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong software development foundation, with a preference for expertise in Active Directory and related identity technologies. Proven leadership skills are essential to guide a team of talented developers and engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership and Development:

• Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of Active Directory developers and engineers, cultivating a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence.
• Manage the full software development lifecycle for Active Directory projects, including sprint planning, code reviews, and ensuring adherence to development standards.
• Conduct performance reviews, set clear objectives, and support the professional growth and skill development of team members, with a focus on secure coding practices and modern identity protocols.
• Effectively manage team workload, prioritize development tasks and projects, and ensure optimal resource allocation.

Software Development:

• Oversee the comprehensive design, development, and testing of the Active Directory data protection solution.
• Engage with customers and scale the development team to support rapid customer adoption.
• Architect and develop robust integration solutions between Active Directory and Rubrik's security platform.

Strategic Planning and Innovation:

• Collaborate closely with product managers, architects, and stakeholders to define and execute the roadmap for Active Directory development initiatives, ensuring alignment with the overall business and technology strategy.

Operational Excellence and Support:

• Provide technical leadership and critical escalation support for customer-facing issues.
• Maintain the health of the Active Directory component, focusing on minimizing regressions.
• Develop and maintain thorough documentation for all developed software, APIs, and processes.

Collaboration and Communication:

• Foster effective collaboration with other engineering teams, security teams, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders.
• Clearly communicate project status, risks, and technical concepts to diverse audiences, including senior management, in both technical and non-technical terms.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related field.
• A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in software development and IT.
• A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a technical leadership or engineering management role, with a track record of overseeing software development teams.

Technical Expertise:

• Strong proficiency in distributed systems and data storage concepts.
• In-depth knowledge of Windows Server operating systems and their integration with Active Directory.
• Preferred: Strong proficiency in Active Directory or Entra-ID concepts.
• Preferred: Experience working within the Microsoft Windows ecosystem.
• Solid understanding of identity and access management (IAM) concepts, with preferred exposure to IAM services like OKTA or AWS IAM.
• Knowledge in identity security (Users, groups, roles, NHI, etc.) is a valuable asset.

Leadership and Management Skills:

• Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and foster the growth of software development and engineering teams.
• Comprehensive understanding of software development methodologies.
• Experience engaging with customers, sales, and support teams.
• Strong project management and organizational skills, with proven ability to manage multiple development projects concurrently.
• Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
