Engineer II

Position Overview

We are seeking an Engineer II (Software Development) for our embedded switching software team in Chennai. This entry-level role focuses on developing low-level C software for managed switches built on Broadcom chipsets, ranging from 10GB to 400GB platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Feature Implementation: Implement well-defined switching features in C under senior engineer guidance, including basic L2/L3 protocols (STP, VLAN).
• Driver Development: Contribute to device driver development for Broadcom switching chips and peripheral components.
• Protocol Stack: Work on network protocol implementations and hardware integration across different speed grades.
• Testing & Debugging: Develop unit tests, debug embedded software using JTAG/GDB/hardware tools, and support performance validation.
• Maintenance: Fix bugs in existing switching software and perform code reviews with senior team members.

Technical Requirements

• C Programming: Strong foundation in C (pointers, memory management) and embedded practices.
• Embedded Systems: Understanding of RTOSs and hardware-software interfaces.
• Network Protocols: Knowledge of Ethernet, TCP/IP, OSI model, and switching concepts.
• Tools: Familiarity with GCC, Make, Git, GDB, and Linux kernel basics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, EE, or related field.
• 2-4 years of embedded software development experience (or strong coursework/projects).
• Good debugging and problem-solving skills.

We provide comprehensive training on Broadcom SDK, switching architectures, and packet processing concepts. No prior Broadcom experience is required.
