Engineer I

Silicon Labs is establishing a world-class Software Centre of Excellence in Hyderabad, Telangana, India, and is seeking an experienced Software Quality Assurance (SQA) Engineer for the Multi-Protocol team. This role is positioned as an Associate Staff Engineer, contributing to the quality of software for Silicon Labs' Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, BLE, and 15.4 combo chips, primarily targeting Internet of Things (IoT), Wearables, and Industrial Automation applications.

Role Responsibilities:

• Take technical ownership of SQA activities for Silicon Labs' IoT product offerings, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
• Collaborate closely with SQA team members to drive successful project delivery according to commitments.
• Demonstrate a proactive, can-do attitude and foster a positive team environment.
• Lead automation initiatives for new features and address legacy backlog items.
• Present project progress and technical insights to local and global leadership.
• Work closely with Software Development Teams, Program Managers, and Applications Engineers across different geographical locations to understand key deliverables.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• Commercialization experience in SQA for embedded software and firmware across one or more wireless protocols (Wi-Fi/BT/BLE/15.4) and their coexistence.
• Proficiency in Python and experience working with embedded systems and embedded C applications.
• Creative, flexible, pragmatic, and skilled individuals with excellent communication and problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced team setting.

IoT SQA Team Responsibilities:

The IoT Software Quality Assurance (SQA) Team, distributed globally, focuses on enhancing the quality of Silicon Labs' SiSDK Product. This SDK provides the necessary wireless (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), Bluetooth Mesh, Zigbee, OpenThread, Wi-Sun, Z-Wave, and proprietary protocols) and 32-bit microcontroller (MCU) software for building IoT end products. The SQA team collaborates with Software Development teams to ensure a thorough understanding of product features and system functionality. They utilize an internal test framework for automated testing, ensuring repeatability and stability, and provide detailed test reports for each product build to guarantee quality for customers. The team possesses extensive experience in delivering high-quality embedded SW products to industry-leading clients.

Technologies Utilized:

• Java, JUnit, Python, Jenkins, Docker, Cloud Based Computing, SQL Database, Windows, Linux, Shell, Bash, GIT

Required Experience:

• Minimum 2 years of overall experience in the wireless field, focusing on one or more wireless protocols (Wi-Fi/BT/BLE/15.4).
• Minimum 2 years of experience testing the coexistence of two or more protocols is preferred.
• Proficiency in resource management and tracking tools such as Jira and Confluence.
• Strong sense of responsibility and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
• Experience working with cross-geo team members, attending meetings, and identifying action items for successful project delivery.

Additional Preferred Experience:

• Experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD).
• Experience testing or developing embedded SW products.
• Knowledge of version control systems like Git.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as C++ or Java, and scripting languages like Perl, Python, or Tcl.
• Familiarity with data communications and networking.

Education and/or Experience:

A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science from a four-year university is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
