Engineer

As a Backend Engineer at Target in Bengaluru, Karnataka, you will be a technical specialist responsible for delivering the robust engineering that powers our products. You'll develop a deep understanding of our technical architecture and design to build scalable software components. Your passion for software quality will drive your ability to balance the speed of feature delivery with the robustness of the software you implement. You are expected to handle operational issues with minimal supervision and actively participate in code reviews to maintain software quality and functional accuracy across the team. We encourage you to learn the product's design and architecture, and to influence its evolution through active participation in relevant ceremonies.

Leverage your technical acumen to evaluate new technologies, contributing to the design, lifecycle management, and total cost of ownership of services. Engage in research and proof-of-concept initiatives for emerging technologies, and participate in code and design reviews. You will write, organize, and maintain code based on established designs, delivering high-performance, scalable, repeatable, and secure deliverables with guidance. Participate in structured construction, automation, debugging, and implementation activities, ensuring adherence to architectural and operational requirements and best practices. Your involvement will extend to disaster recovery planning and execution, as well as functional integration and regression testing, with an emphasis on test script automation. You will resolve common technical issues and monitor system capacity with minimal assistance. A key part of your role will involve understanding metadata about various data sources and metrics, and adhering to change and incident management standards.

About you:

• Possess a 4-year degree or equivalent experience.
• Have 1+ years of software development experience.
• Demonstrate familiarity with current and emerging technologies within your scope of responsibility and a commitment to applying them.
• Understand concepts of package solutions and package-specific programming languages, including knowledge of development objects.
• Continuously build and apply domain-specific knowledge.
• Show proficiency in at least one computer programming language.
• Understand and apply the concepts of distributed programming within your domain.
• Possess knowledge of different data structures in your chosen programming language and their application.
• Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge in your areas of expertise.
• Stay current with new and evolving technologies through formal training and self-directed education.
