About the Role
We are looking for a meticulous and efficient Duty Engineer to join our team in Chennai, India. In this vital role, you will be instrumental in maintaining the operational excellence of our facility by ensuring all building systems function optimally and by addressing any maintenance issues with promptness and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular inspections and perform maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems to guarantee peak performance.
- Respond swiftly and professionally to maintenance requests from guests and staff, resolving issues effectively.
- Maintain precise records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment performance utilizing computerized systems.
- Implement and actively support preventive maintenance schedules to minimize operational downtime and extend the lifespan of equipment.
- Monitor energy consumption and actively contribute to energy conservation initiatives.
- Respond with urgency to emergency situations, including power outages, equipment failures, and safety hazards.
- Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repair services.
- Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards, including all applicable local building codes and regulations.
- Provide supervisory support to maintenance staff or technicians during shifts as needed.
- Participate in shift rotations, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays, demonstrating adaptability and resilience.
Qualifications and Skills
- Possess a Diploma or certification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline, along with a C lenience holder qualification.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a similar engineering or maintenance role, ideally within the hotel or hospitality sector.
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of building systems, including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and fire safety systems.
- Ability to effectively read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
- Exhibit strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Possess excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a strong focus on delivering exceptional customer service.
- Familiarity with Chennai's local building codes and regulations.
- Understanding of energy conservation practices and their practical implementation.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills for record-keeping, reporting, and utilizing maintenance management systems.
- Capacity to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts and respond to emergency situations, showcasing adaptability and resilience.
