Grand Mercure Bangalore, a distinguished property within the Accor group, is seeking a diligent Duty Engineer to join its esteemed team in Bengaluru, India. This role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless operation and meticulous maintenance of all engineering systems, directly contributing to an exceptional guest experience and the efficient functioning of the hotel.
The Duty Engineer will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining engineering and maintenance systems to guarantee optimal performance. Key duties include conducting regular inspections of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, as well as performing preventive maintenance on critical infrastructure such as HVAC, elevators, lighting, and fire safety systems. Prompt and efficient response to guest and staff maintenance requests, along with troubleshooting and repairing minor issues across electrical, plumbing, and mechanical domains, will be essential.
This position requires the supervision of the maintenance team, coordination with external contractors, and the meticulous upkeep of records pertaining to maintenance schedules, equipment performance, and repairs. Adherence to local safety regulations and building codes is paramount. The Duty Engineer will also play a role in implementing energy conservation initiatives, reporting major breakdowns, recommending upgrades, and collaborating with other departments to foster a safe and comfortable environment. Participation in budget planning for maintenance and repairs, development of preventive maintenance programs, and conducting safety training for staff are also core responsibilities. Effective management of maintenance supplies and equipment inventory, and collaboration with the procurement team for sourcing materials, will be expected.
Qualifications: A Diploma or Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or a related field) is required, complemented by a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in hotel or facility maintenance. Comprehensive knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety systems is crucial. The ideal candidate will possess strong troubleshooting and emergency repair skills, excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities, and effective communication and teamwork skills. Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and holidays, is necessary. Familiarity with building management systems and maintenance management software is advantageous, as is knowledge of local building codes and safety regulations. The ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities, alongside a customer-focused mindset, is vital. Proficiency in English is essential; knowledge of Hindi or Marathi is a plus.
