Role Overview

We are seeking a Distinguished AI Engineer for our Intelligent Foundations and Experiences (IFX) team in Bengaluru, India. This role is central to bringing Capital One's vision of responsible, reliable AI systems to life.

About the Team

The IFX team empowers organizations across Capital One with powerful Generative AI models, safe explainable capabilities like agentic workflows, and foundational model expertise using open-weight and proprietary frontier models. We focus on optimizing software development lifecycles to enhance developer productivity and accelerate time-to-market for machine learning models.

In This Role You Will

• Partner with cross-functional teams (engineers, scientists, PMs) to deliver transformative AI products.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support components including foundation model training, LLM inference, similarity search, guardrails, evals, and observability using a broad stack of Open Source/SaaS technologies like AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, PyTorch, etc.
• Invent state-of-the-art LLM optimization techniques to improve scalability, cost, latency, and throughput for production AI systems.
• Develop novel context generation strategies optimizing cost/quality trade-offs.
• Implement automated monitoring, anomaly detection, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for agentic applications.
• Mentor Staff, Principal, and Senior engineers; author technical design documents and blogs; and represent Capital One at Tier 1 AI conferences.
