Director of Quality Engineering

The Director of Quality Engineering for the Roaming Network Services will spearhead global QE transformation and operations across multiple product lines. This hands-on technical leader is responsible for redefining quality beyond defect detection, encompassing product design excellence, building a high-performing automation-first organization, and ensuring delivery of highly reliable, scalable, and secure products within the roaming solutions portfolio. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with transformational leadership, strategic thinking, and extensive experience in telecommunications, specifically roaming, signaling, mobile core technologies, and cloud-native architectures.

Key responsibilities include:

• Redefining quality metrics to prioritize product design efficacy, user experience, and overall solution value.
• Establishing comprehensive quality frameworks that ensure functional correctness alongside architectural soundness, scalability, security-by-design, and performance at scale.
• Pioneering a 'quality-as-a-strategy' approach where QE insights actively influence product roadmaps.
• Implementing early quality indicators to identify design deficiencies pre-development.

This role also involves leading automation transformations across functional, security, and infrastructure testing with CI/CD integration; architecting next-generation test frameworks; driving an 'automation-first' culture; establishing KPIs for coverage and effectiveness; spearheading GenAI adoption in QE through AI-driven test case generation and predictive analytics; developing LLM-based capabilities for natural language automation and API testing; implementing AI-powered defect analysis; leading ML-based performance initiatives to predict scalability issues; and creating a Center of Excellence for emerging technologies.

Leadership duties include transforming team structures, implementing Agile QE methodologies, cultivating technical excellence through mentoring, establishing Centers of Excellence for specialized areas like security and automation, and developing career paths that reward both depth and leadership. Operational responsibilities cover cross-functional collaboration with Product Management, Development, Support, and DevOps; driving interoperability testing across multi-vendor environments (2G/3G/4G/5G); managing compliance and security testing for global roaming standards; executing quality risk assessments; and optimizing QE processes to support increased release velocity.

Requirements include 15+ years in software quality engineering with significant transformational leadership experience, deep technical expertise in automation, CI/CD, cloud architectures, hands-on coding capabilities, strong domain knowledge of Roaming Protocols (SS7, Diameter, GTP, MAP, SIP), and a track record of leading large-scale QE teams across distributed geographies. Technical skills must encompass Telecom Protocols, Mobile Core Network Architecture, Signaling Flow Analysis, Advanced Test Automation Frameworks, CI/CD Environments, Containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), Cloud Platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), Performance Engineering tools, and Generative AI technologies.

Nice-to-have qualifications include familiarity with roaming fraud management solutions, experience implementing GenAI for telecommunications testing, understanding of Regulatory Compliance in Telecom (e.g., GDPR), background in SRE practices, a BE/B. Tech or higher degree in Computer Science, and 15+ years of work experience.
