About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Director, Data Scientist to join our team in Ahmedabad. This role is instrumental in driving our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives forward.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct in-depth ESG data analysis and effectively communicate findings to internal stakeholders through clear verbal and written reports, utilizing sophisticated graphical data representations.
• Accurately calculate and promptly distribute proprietary ESG Scores, adhering to professional standards.
• Maintain and enhance existing machine learning algorithms, while also developing new ones, leveraging our extensive and varied Social, Governance, and Environmental datasets.
• Innovate and develop new ESG Scoring methodologies using tools such as Microsoft Excel or Python.
• Collaborate effectively within a diverse, multi-location team to foster best practices in modeling and ensure the high quality of all deliverables.

Essential Requirements:

• Proven strong technical proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with a preference for VBA experience.
• Solid programming skills in Python, including practical experience applying AI techniques in programming.
• A minimum of two years of professional experience working with large, complex datasets to inform business and investment decisions. This includes demonstrated expertise in data quality control, source documentation, and the synthesis of complex technical data into actionable insights for clients.
• A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a quantitative discipline such as science, economics, engineering, or mathematics.
• A-level qualification or equivalent in mathematics.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to confidently present complex information to clients and key stakeholders in an easily understandable and actionable manner.
• Demonstrated self-motivation, strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a proactive, positive attitude.
• Numerical proficiency, a keen eye for detail, natural curiosity, and an innovative approach to problem-solving.
• Personable with a proven ability to plan and execute work assignments efficiently, meeting tight deadlines both independently and as part of a diverse international team.
• Fluency in written and spoken English; proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
• A good understanding of S&P Global's traditional business areas and a strategic perspective on integrating ESG into future product development.
