
DevOps Engineer
Full Job Description
Amazon Robotics is seeking a DevOps Engineer for its SCOT Support India team, focusing on FO (Fulfillment Optimization) support in Hyderabad/Secunderabad, Telangana, India. This role is critical for ensuring the smooth operation of our mission-critical, high-volume distributed systems. You will be the primary technical expert, diving deep into operational issues, identifying root causes, driving resolutions, and developing automation and tooling to prevent recurring problems. This is an active, hands-on role requiring you to develop deep subject matter expertise across our fulfillment stack, lead incident response, author runbooks, refine operational processes, and mentor junior engineers. You will collaborate closely with software development teams to enhance system supportability, availability, and performance. The team provides 12x7 on-call support on a rotating basis.
What You Will Do
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across distributed systems, often with limited or no existing documentation.
- Act as a technical subject matter expert for your team and partner engineering groups.
- Lead incident response efforts, including root cause analysis, authoring post-incident reviews, and implementing preventive measures.
- Proactively identify operational trends and problems before they affect customers; define and implement advanced monitoring and alerting strategies.
- Develop automation, tooling, and scripts to boost operational efficiency and minimize manual effort.
- Author, maintain, and review essential technical documentation such as runbooks, SOPs, and troubleshooting guides.
- Mentor junior team members, assist with onboarding, and participate in hiring activities.
- Lead internal team projects, ensuring timely delivery of defined goals.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on tactical and strategic initiatives to improve system reliability and customer experience.
- Leverage data to identify and drive the development of new support mechanisms, processes, and tools.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Independently maintain and operate products and systems within your team's scope, including performing change management activities.
- Participate in a 12x7 on-call rotation, managing incidents through to resolution or appropriate escalation.
- Contribute to Correction of Errors (COEs) and support retrospective analyses.
- Influence issue prioritization, best practices, and operational standards within the team.
Basic Qualifications
- 2+ years of software development or 2+ years of technical support experience.
- Proficiency in scripting with modern programming languages.
- Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and debugging technical systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of web services, distributed systems, and web application development.
- Experience working with REST web services, XML, and JSON.
- Familiarity with AWS Services including EC2, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, and SQS.
- Experience with infrastructure as code tools like CloudFormation, Chef, Puppet, Salt, or Ansible in production environments.
