DevOps Engineer - Remote (India)
Crossing Hurdles is seeking a talented DevOps Engineer to join our partner, a leading AI research lab, on an hourly contract basis. This is a remote position based in India, offering flexible part-time commitment. You will play a crucial role in architecting, developing, and maintaining high-performance, fault-tolerant microservices and the underlying infrastructure for large-scale AI workloads.
Role Responsibilities
- Architect and develop high-performance, fault-tolerant microservices.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, and infrastructure-as-code systems.
- Manage Kubernetes clusters, cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP), and container orchestration workflows.
- Implement monitoring, observability, logging, and security best practices across distributed systems.
- Collaborate with backend and AI engineering teams to optimize performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Continuously improve automation, deployment speeds, and operational efficiency across environments.
- Support research and infra teams in delivering production-grade systems for large-scale AI workloads.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in backend engineering and/or DevOps.
- Strong understanding of microservices architecture and API design.
- Proficiency in Go, Python, Node.js, or Java.
- Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP).
- Familiarity with Terraform, Helm, ArgoCD, GitHub Actions, or similar DevOps tooling.
- Experience working with databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis) and message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ, NATS).
- Strong understanding of monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK) and CI/CD principles.

- AI Infrastructure (Bonus): ML infra, large-scale distributed systems, edge/serverless workflows
Bonus Points
- Experience in AI/ML infrastructure or high-scale distributed environments.
- Contributions to open-source backend or DevOps tooling.
- Knowledge of GitOps practices, serverless computing, or edge systems.
Compensation and Details
- Type: Hourly Contract
- Compensation: $30-$63 per hour
