Design Engineer

Proposal Design and Management

• Thoroughly analyze received enquiries and all associated technical data.
• Collaborate with the Sales Manager to discuss project enquiries.
• Identify and document all technical requirements, highlighting key points.
• Seek clarifications from clients for any missing information.
• Perform designs in accordance with enquiry specifications and established design standards.
• Verify designs and ensure they are cross-checked by a Senior Design Engineer or Asst. Sales Manager.
• Discuss designed proposals with the Proposal Engineer/Estimation Manager, clearly explaining the scope and requirements.
• Establish design completion dates based on workload and deadlines.
• Address client technical queries post-offer submission and assist in preparing revised offers.
• Attend technical meetings as required.

Post Order Design

• Review all technical specifications within the purchase order.
• Highlight key technical points from the purchase order.
• Immediately report any technical discrepancies between agreed points and the received order to the respective Sales Representative, seeking clarification or order amendment.
• Set dates for detailed design preparation.
• Prepare detailed design calculations.
• Provide input to the drawing department for the creation of fabrication drawings.
• Submit detailed design calculations to the client.
• Review client comments on designs and revise accordingly.
• If client comments suggest inclusions or modifications outside the original scope, inform the Sales Representative and the client about the commercial implications.
• Expedite client approval of design calculations to meet project team requirements.
• Maintain a record of approved calculations.
• Notify the Project Planning department of manufacturing clearances obtained through partial client approvals.
• Inform the Project department once all design points are finalized.
• Review the Quality Assurance Plan (QAP) prepared by the Inspection Engineer against design standards.
• Resolve any concerns raised by the Production department during manufacturing.

Research and Development

• Stay updated on new design standards, codes, and technological advancements.
• Participate in the development of new products within the organization.
• Identify methods to enhance design cost-effectiveness.
• Develop strategies to improve design manufacturability.

Qualifications

Graduates in Engineering (Mechanical) required.

Work Experience

Preferred 3-4 years of experience in a relevant area of work.
