About the Role: Deputy Project Manager at Johnson Controls, Mumbai
Johnson Controls is seeking a highly skilled and team-oriented Project Engineer to join our dynamic team in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for overseeing all engineering, execution, technical, and safety aspects of assigned projects, ensuring the highest levels of accuracy, quality, and timely delivery. You will take the lead in preparing schedules, coordinating, and monitoring project activities, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, practices, QA/QC, and EHS policies. Additionally, you will manage the performance of subcontractors and vendors to ensure project completion aligns with plans. Experience with large infrastructure projects, particularly in ELV systems such as BMS, CCTV, Access Control, Fire Alarm, VESDA, and Intruder Alarm Systems, is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Focus on project execution activities, acting as a vital liaison between customers and internal backend support teams.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for information flow between customers and internal teams.
- Prepare and implement project schedules at the site.
- Follow up on approved shop drawings, schematics, and technical submittals.
- Manage vendors on-site for project execution, including subcontractors.
- Ensure adherence to EHS, Ethics, and Quality criteria during project execution.
- Manage material (MIR) and perform reconciliations.
- Prepare and authenticate daily/weekly project progress reports.
- Raise purchase requisitions for required materials in advance based on site needs.
- Certify executed work measurements (WIR).
- Undertake pre-commissioning activities as per project requirements.
- Manage invoice claims, secure timely client approvals and payment realization, and follow up on receivables with clients and relevant internal parties.
- Identify dependencies that may cause delays in project execution.
- Review and validate subcontractor R.A. bills.
How You Will Achieve Success:
- Conduct detailed site surveys with subcontractor supervisors to understand customer needs.
- Gather all relevant information regarding site fronts, additional works, and any site delays.
- Prepare daily/weekly execution plans collaboratively with subcontractors and customers, aligned with the overall project plan.
- Facilitate meetings and coordination with the internal design team for approved drawings.
- Monitor and instruct subcontractor manpower to ensure planned daily work completion.
- Conduct Tool Box Talks (TBT) and safety training sessions with the EHS team for subcontractors and JCI on-site staff. Report any safety-related issues to the EHS team.
- Maintain meticulous records of material movement and perform periodic material reconciliations.
- Provide regular updates on site work to the Project Manager and customers via email.
- Ensure site execution adheres to quality, EHS, and the company's ethical policies, raising concerns for any violations.
- Prepare and obtain approval for measurement sheets for both JCI and contractors.
- Perform pre-commissioning site activities, including loop testing, IP configuration, and verification of pre-commissioning checklists.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Engineering (BE) / Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech) in Electrical, Electronics & Telecommunications, or Instrumentation.
