Debug Lead Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a Lead System Engineer (Debug Lead) at AMD to drive feature enablement and SoC-system level flows from pre-silicon through post-silicon environments. This role is critical for shaping the future of AI, data centers, PCs, gaming, and embedded systems.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Pre-Silicon: Own new SOC feature enablement, implementation, coverage plans in emulation; review silicon bugs deferred to tape-out ensuring no impact on system-level features.
• Post-Silicon: Lead Bring-up planning with Silicon teams, Platform, Firmware/BIOS, and Validation for fastest functional bring-up upon silicon arrival. Partner with NPI PM as technical lead from tape-out through IP milestones. Drive cross-functional critical issue debugs up to core team management reviews.
• Cross-Functional Leadership: Provide coverage inputs to Silicon Validation teams; exhibit strong leadership on X86 architecture and feature implementation for both HW/FW aspects.

Individual Requirements

• Experience: Highly skilled professional with 15+ years in Pre/Post-Silicon enablement, validation, BIOS/FW/SW knowledge, and X86 design. Adept at connecting Hardware/Firmware/Software domains.
• Risk Management: Call out risks early and develop mitigation plans for the Enablement Manager, Program/Product Managers, and cross-functional stakeholders (DV/Silicon Designers/Bios/FW/SW).
• Technical Skills: Experience in High Speed I/Os (PCIe Gen4+, DDR4/5/LPDDR, USB4.0/3.x PD/C, Display/Ethernet), Power Management, and high-speed board measurement techniques using Oscilloscopes, Logic Analyzers, Debuggers, etc.
• Tools: Scripting with TCL or Python preferred.
• Soft Skills: Excellent communication, collaboration, articulation, upleveling to senior management, and team playing skills essential for global execution.
