Database Engineer

As a Database Engineer at goFLUENT, you will be instrumental in architecting, refining, and safeguarding the databases that underpin our cutting-edge global language learning services. Your focus will be on ensuring the unwavering reliability, peak performance, and seamless scalability of our data infrastructure, while fostering collaborative partnerships with diverse engineering teams to drive product innovation and operational excellence in our Chennai, India location.

Responsibilities:

• Spearhead the design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of highly available and scalable database solutions.
• Proactively optimize database performance, swiftly resolve issues, and guarantee system robustness.
• Craft and manage database schemas, stored procedures, and complex queries to meet evolving business needs.
• Diligently monitor database capacity, security protocols, and data integrity across all operational environments.
• Provide critical support for data migration, transformation, and integration initiatives.
• Collaborate closely with engineering teams to enhance application responsiveness and streamline data pipelines.
• Implement and uphold best practices for database backups, recovery strategies, disaster preparedness, and continuous monitoring.
• Ensure strict adherence to data governance, privacy regulations, and robust security standards.

Qualifications:

• Extensive experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server, and/or proficiency in NoSQL systems.
• A profound understanding of database architecture, indexing techniques, replication methodologies, and performance tuning strategies.
• Demonstrated experience with major cloud platforms including AWS, GCP, or Azure, and their managed database services.
• Proficiency in scripting languages like Python or Bash for process automation.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps tools, and contemporary development workflows.
• Exceptional analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
• A proven ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced, global engineering environment.

Education and Experience:

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• A minimum of 2 years of practical experience in database engineering, administration, or development.
