Join the World Wide Delivery Service Partner (DSP) Analytics team at Amazon, a core analytics group focused on enhancing our global DSP ecosystem. We develop cutting-edge solutions to empower data-driven decision-making, partnering with stakeholders to drive operational excellence, business growth, and the success of small businesses in last-mile delivery. This role directly influences customer and driver experience, DSP success, and Amazon's sustainable growth.
We are looking for a motivated Data Scientist skilled in machine learning and analytics to tackle complex challenges in delivery planning. You will apply rigorous data science methodologies to generate actionable insights that support DSP performance measurement and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement data science solutions to optimize DSP operations, capacity planning, and performance across the global network.
- Apply advanced machine learning and statistical modeling techniques to enhance DSP analytics, forecasting, and performance measurement systems.
- Analyze sentiment risks and improve algorithms for DSP program management, including scorecard metrics, capacity reliability, and performance evaluation.
- Translate high-level DSP program requirements into mathematical models, analyzing business needs and predicting Return on Investment (ROI).
- Build and deploy scalable data models, dashboards, and automated reporting systems for self-service analytics.
- Contribute to expanding our Generative AI (GenAI) tools to improve developer productivity and data quality.
- Conduct independent analysis of complex datasets across performance, financial, and operational domains to derive actionable insights.
- Collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, creative environment, measuring and communicating analytical risks, providing constructive feedback, and aligning research with strategic program needs.
- Partner with Business Intelligence Engineers, program teams, and DSP stakeholders to define KPIs, validate analytical approaches, and ensure insights lead to tangible business outcomes.
Basic Qualifications:
- 2+ years of data scientist experience.
- 3+ years of experience with data querying languages (e.g., SQL), scripting languages (e.g., Python), or statistical/mathematical software (e.g., R, SAS, Matlab).
- 3+ years of experience with machine learning/statistical modeling data analysis tools and techniques, including understanding parameters affecting performance.
- 1+ year of experience guiding and coaching a group of researchers.
- 1+ year of experience working with or evaluating AI systems.
- 1+ year of experience creating or contributing to mathematical textbooks, research papers, or educational content.
- Master's degree in a STEM field or equivalent practical experience in a STEM role.
- Experience applying theoretical models in an applied setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in a STEM field.
- Knowledge of machine learning concepts and their application to reasoning and problem-solving.
- Experience in Python, Perl, or another scripting language.
- Experience as a Machine Learning or Data Scientist at a large technology company.
- Experience defining and creating benchmarks for assessing GenAI model performance.
- Experience in multi-team, cross-disciplinary projects.
- Experience applying quantitative analysis to solve business problems and make data-driven decisions.
- Experience effectively communicating complex concepts through written and verbal communication.
