Data Scientist / Statistician (Python) - TATA Himachal THR Project

St Johns Research Institute is seeking a Data Scientist / Statistician to join the TATA Himachal THR Project in Bangalore, India. This project aims to enhance the anthropometric nutritional status of young children (0.6-3 years) in a district of Himachal Pradesh by testing an appropriate Therapeutic High-Energy-Resource (THR) that adheres to all guidelines and nutrient requirements. The initiative includes large-scale implementation across two districts and capacity building for appropriate technologies within the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) system.

Project Overview:

• Improve the nutritional status of children aged 0.6-3 years in Himachal Pradesh.
• Implement a Therapeutic High-Energy-Resource (THR) that meets all nutritional guidelines.
• Scale implementation across two districts.
• Develop and integrate appropriate technologies within the ICDS system.

Role Details:

Position: Data Scientist / Statistician (Python)

Vacancy: One

Preferred Qualifications: MSc Statistics or MSc Data Science

Experience: 1-2 years

Language: English

Salary: INR 50,000 per month

Location: Bangalore, India

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, validate, and deploy statistical and machine learning models.
• Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA) to uncover patterns, trends, and actionable insights.
• Clean, preprocess, and transform structured and unstructured data for analysis and modeling.
• Apply statistical methods including regression, hypothesis testing, time-series, and longitudinal data analysis.
• Build and optimize predictive and classification models using machine learning algorithms.
• Participate in code reviews to uphold high code quality and best practices.
• Assist in developing and maintaining Python backend code for model integration into Mobile/Web applications.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation for data workflows, models, experiments, and performance metrics.
