Full Job Description
About the Role
smarthyre seeks experienced Data Scientists with strong expertise in signal processing, sensor fusion, and AI/ML for real-world hardware environments. This role involves close collaboration with quantum hardware and drone engineering teams to analyze, model, and fuse data from magnetometers, IMUs, and UAV telemetry for advanced precision navigation and anomaly detection. You will be responsible for designing and implementing robust data pipelines, sophisticated fusion models, and efficient inference architectures to transform complex multi-sensor datasets into actionable insights and control strategies.
What You'll Do
Sensor Intelligence & Data Fusion
- Develop and maintain scalable data ingestion, preprocessing, and cleaning pipelines for magnetometer, IMU, and UAV telemetry data.
- Design, train, and validate physics-informed Machine Learning models for trajectory estimation, drift correction, and anomaly detection.
- Implement advanced filtering techniques like Kalman/Particle filters and deep sensor fusion frameworks such as LSTMs, Transformers, or Graph-based models.
- Integrate magnetic, inertial, and positional data to achieve reliable localization, particularly in GPS-denied environments.
Geospatial Analytics & Visualization
- Generate detailed magnetic anomaly maps and heatmaps from airborne and terrestrial survey data.
- Utilize statistical analysis, clustering algorithms, and signal denoising techniques to identify and extract spatial patterns.
- Create internal visual dashboards for real-time data interpretation and post-mission analysis.
Collaboration & Deployment
- Collaborate with hardware engineers to define data interfaces and synchronization standards for live data acquisition.
- Participate actively in field calibration, system testing, and validation of post-mission data.
- Document algorithms, research findings, and contribute to proposal writing and intellectual property filings.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Possess a B.Tech, M.Tech, or Ph.D. in Data Science, Physics, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or Applied Mathematics.
- Bring between 2 to 8 years of professional experience in multi-sensor data analytics, robotics, or scientific ML applications.
- Demonstrate proven expertise in Python, with proficiency in libraries such as NumPy/Pandas, PyTorch/TensorFlow, and Scikit-learn.
- Exhibit a strong understanding of signal processing fundamentals, including Fourier/wavelet transforms and noise modeling.
- Have prior experience with geospatial tools like GeoPandas, QGIS, or rasterio, and familiarity with sensor fusion frameworks.
- Showcase familiarity with Kalman filtering, Bayesian statistics, and time-series modeling techniques.
- Prior work experience involving UAV telemetry, inertial data processing, or magnetic field mapping is highly preferred.
Preferred Skills (Bonus)
- Experience with edge AI model deployment using tools like TensorRT, ONNX, or on platforms like Jetson.
- Exposure to defense or aerospace datasets.
- Familiarity with robotics simulation environments such as ROS or Gazebo.
- Knowledge of drone dynamics, control systems, or embedded ML inference.
