Data Scientist

Insurity is seeking a Data Scientist to join our Predict team in Noida, India. This role is crucial for building and maintaining predictive models that support underwriting, claims, and audit functions, particularly within Workers' Compensation and Commercial Auto insurance lines. You will play a key part in expanding our data science capabilities.

What You Will Do:

• Develop predictive models utilizing GLM and machine learning techniques including GBM, Random Forest, and XGBoost.
• Perform comprehensive feature engineering, selection, and transformation to optimize model performance.
• Analyze both structured and unstructured datasets to derive insights and inform model development.
• Identify and integrate external data sources to enhance existing datasets and improve model accuracy.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to successfully integrate developed models into production environments.
• Leverage AWS tools such as SageMaker and EC2 for building, training, and deploying models.
• Document all modeling decisions and effectively communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Support ongoing model monitoring and performance tracking.

Who We Are Looking For:

• 1-3 years of experience in data science or predictive modeling.
• Strong theoretical and practical understanding of GLM and ML algorithms (GBM, XGBoost, Random Forest).
• Proficiency in Python and its core data science libraries (scikit-learn, pandas, NumPy).
• Familiarity with AWS cloud services, specifically SageMaker and EC2.
• Experience in feature engineering and applying model evaluation techniques.
• Demonstrated ability to translate complex business problems into actionable analytical solutions.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working within cross-functional teams.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Data Science.
• Proficient in active listening, analytical and critical thinking, self-starter attitude, and a quick learner.
• Detail-oriented with strong time management, planning, prioritization, and organization skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively and work independently.
• Proficient written and oral English communication skills.
• Sound judgment and the capacity to manage multiple priorities and tasks efficiently.
• Flexibility and adaptability to changing project needs.

Desirable Skills:

• Prior experience in the insurance or financial services industry.
• Exposure to deploying and monitoring models in production environments.
• Familiarity with version control systems like Git and agile development methodologies.
• Working knowledge of R, especially for understanding or migrating legacy models.
