Role Overview
We are seeking a Data Scientist with a strong business acumen to address real-world challenges within the jewellery value chain. This role bridges data, finance, supply chain, and leadership, focusing on demand forecasting, pricing strategies, inventory optimization, and margin analysis. Key considerations include gold price volatility, seasonality, festive periods, promotional impacts, and regional demand nuances. If you excel at transforming operational data into actionable business decisions, this opportunity is ideal for you.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain demand forecasting models incorporating seasonality, festivals, promotions, and regional trends.
- Construct pricing and margin models that account for gold rate volatility, labor costs, and Bill of Materials (BOM) structures.
- Optimize inventory planning for weight-based Stock Keeping Units (SKUs), including grams, carats, designs, and variants.
- Conduct profitability and contribution analysis across SKU, category, and channel levels.
- Collaborate closely with finance, supply chain, sales teams, and senior leadership to translate data insights into strategic actions.
- Create clear dashboards, analyses, and narratives to support executive decision-making.
- Continuously enhance data quality, assumptions, and model performance based on direct business feedback.
Required Skills & Experience
- 2–6 years of experience as a Data Scientist or Analytics professional.
- Strong hands-on proficiency with Python (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn).
- Solid understanding of statistics, regression techniques, and time-series forecasting.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience working with large, imperfect datasets.
- Ability to articulate complex analyses in simple business language.
Good to Have (Strong Advantage)
- Experience in retail, manufacturing, jewellery, FMCG, or consumer goods sectors.
- Exposure to weight-based inventory, costing, pricing, or BOM analytics.
- Understanding of gold pricing, wastage, making charges, or multi-component SKUs.
- Experience working directly with C-suite executives or business heads.

- Curiosity and ownership – proactively asking 'why'.
- Comfort working in ambiguous and evolving data environments.
- Strong collaboration skills with non-technical teams.
