Role Overview:

We are seeking a Data Scientist (Level 1) to join our team in New Delhi and work on real-world, large-scale datasets. You will contribute to high-impact projects within the political and governance sectors. This role involves analyzing data, building predictive models, and generating critical insights that directly inform strategic decision-making. Key Responsibilities:

• Rapid Prototyping: Develop quick analytical proofs-of-concept (PoCs) to validate hypotheses before full model development.
• Data Pipeline Ownership: Manage the complete data pipeline, from cleaning and exploratory analysis to model deployment and final presentation.
• Cross-Functional Communication: Translate complex statistical findings into clear, non-technical narratives for Operations and Research stakeholders.
• Data Quality Assurance: Implement rigorous validation checks to ensure the accuracy of large-scale datasets, as critical decisions rely on high-integrity outputs.
• Analyze structured and unstructured datasets to extract actionable insights.
• Build, evaluate, and optimize statistical and machine learning models.
• Design and develop dashboards, reports, and data visualization frameworks.
• Translate business and operational challenges into data-driven solutions.
• Present insights and strategic recommendations to stakeholders effectively.
• Stay current with the latest data science tools, technologies, and best practices.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in Data Science or Data Analytics roles.
• Strong proficiency in Python, including libraries like Pandas and NumPy; experience with ML libraries is preferred.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, ownership-driven environment.

• First-Principles Thinking: A robust problem-solving approach to break down vague business problems into structured data tasks.
• Cognitive Flexibility: Adaptability to pivot between multiple projects and changing priorities in a high-intensity setting.
• Advanced SQL & Schema Design: Experience beyond basic extraction, including complex joins, window functions, and query optimization for large datasets.
• Unstructured Data Processing: Familiarity with techniques for handling messy data, such as text mining, string matching, or fuzzy logic.
• Experimental Design: Understanding of A/B testing or randomized control trial (RCT) methodologies to measure intervention impact.
• Exposure to predictive modeling, clustering, or classification techniques.
• Familiarity with political, governance, or public sector data is a plus.
