Data Scientist Role in Kolkata
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Data Scientist with 2-6 years of experience to join our team in Kolkata. This role involves analyzing structured and unstructured data, building predictive models, and generating actionable insights to support strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience in machine learning, statistical analysis, and data visualization, coupled with the ability to communicate findings effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Collection & Preparation: Gather, clean, and preprocess large datasets from multiple sources. Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA) to identify trends and patterns. Handle missing data, perform feature engineering, and data transformation. Work with structured data using SQL and relational databases.
- Machine Learning Model Development: Develop, train, and evaluate machine learning models using Python or R. Apply algorithms for classification, regression, clustering, and forecasting. Utilize libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and Scikit-learn for model building and evaluation. Perform hyperparameter tuning and model optimization. Validate models using appropriate statistical techniques and metrics.
- Statistical Analysis: Conduct hypothesis testing and statistical modeling. Apply probability, regression analysis, and inferential statistics. Interpret model results and assess business impact. Ensure accuracy and reliability of analytical outputs.
- Data Visualization & Reporting: Create dashboards and visual reports using Tableau or Power BI. Present insights in a clear and compelling manner to stakeholders. Translate complex analytical results into business-friendly recommendations. Prepare documentation and analytical summaries.
- Collaboration & Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and business teams. Participate in Agile ceremonies and project discussions. Continuously research and apply new data science techniques. Maintain documentation for models and workflows.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
- 2-6 years of experience in data science, analytics, or related roles.
- Strong programming skills in Python or R.
- Hands-on experience with Pandas, NumPy, and Scikit-learn.
- Proficiency in SQL for data querying and manipulation.
- Understanding of machine learning algorithms and statistical concepts.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
- Knowledge of data cleaning and preprocessing techniques.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, Py Torch).
- Exposure to big data tools (Spark, Hadoop).
- Basic knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Experience with A/B testing and experimentation frameworks.
- Understanding of model deployment concepts.
