What you'll do:
- Apply and develop advanced statistical modeling techniques, including deep neural networks, Bayesian models, optimization methods, and other ML approaches.
- Build efficient and scalable models tailored for Walmart's extensive scale.
- Collaborate with business, engineering, and science counterparts to devise impactful solutions for business challenges.
- Define, own, and track model performance metrics and their impact on business outcomes.
- Translate complex analytical findings into clear, actionable recommendations for business partners, influencing future strategies.
What you'll bring:
- PhD or Master's degree with relevant experience (e.g., Master's with >1 year, PhD with >2 years) in Computer Science, quantitative discipline, or a related field. (Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, IT with 2 years experience, OR Masters in the same fields, OR 4 years analytics experience).
- Champion continuous improvement in data science and machine learning by adhering to industry best practices and advancing state-of-the-art research.
- Integrate data science solutions seamlessly into existing business processes.
- Develop and advocate for process standards and best practices in Machine Learning, particularly within the retail sector.
- Mentor junior team members and manage multiple concurrent projects.
- Consult with business stakeholders across e-commerce and stores on algorithm-based recommendations, acting as a thought leader to drive business actions.
- Engage with universities, institutes, and vendors to introduce novel ideas and foster innovation within the lab.
- Peer review and publish research in top-tier ML/AI conferences (e.g., NIPS, ICML, AAAI, COLT).
- Participate and present at external forums like research conferences and technical summits.
- Uphold company policies, procedures, mission, values, and ethical standards.
Good to haves:
- Experience with Recommender Systems.
- Expertise in Deep Learning, especially as applied to Computer Vision.
- Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs).
- Familiarity with the E-commerce domain.
