Data Scientist II - Bengaluru, India

Instamart is seeking a talented Data Scientist II with 2 to 5 years of experience to join their dynamic team in Bengaluru, India. This is a permanent position focused on leveraging Data Science and Machine Learning to drive decision-making and product development.

Data Science and applied Machine Learning are integral to Instamart's operations, influencing both strategic decisions and product innovation. Our data scientists collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end data products. This involves defining business problems mathematically, developing and refining ML/DL methodologies, and deploying solutions into production. We take ownership of initiatives that directly impact customer experience and key business metrics. Fostering an environment of open idea sharing and encouraging contributions to internal and external forums are core to our culture.

What You'll Do

• Apply your strong background in ML/DL and Statistics to build next-generation ML-based solutions for improving ad recommendation quality and optimizing campaign performance through various techniques.
• Mine and extract valuable insights from Instamart's extensive historical data to identify and conceptualize solutions for business and customer experience challenges.
• Work closely with engineers, Product Managers, and analysts to define detailed requirements, develop technical designs, and implement scalable, end-to-end inference solutions.
• Stay current with the latest advancements in ML research, particularly in Ads Bidding algorithms and Recommendation Systems, and adapt these findings to solve Instamart's unique problem statements.
• Present and discuss your work in internal and external forums, engaging both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Engage in challenging and impactful projects within the logistics domain.
• Collaborate with diverse teams, including software developers and product managers, to seamlessly integrate data-driven solutions into our existing systems.
• Develop and deploy sophisticated machine learning and deep learning models.
• Take full ownership of projects from their initial conception through to successful delivery, ensuring high-quality and impactful outcomes.

What We're Looking For

• A Master's degree in a quantitative field such as Applied Mathematics, Machine Learning, Statistics, or Operations Research.
• 2 to 6 years of relevant industry or research lab experience.
• Technical proficiency with deep expertise in applying ML techniques to large datasets.
• A proven track record of successfully launching ML data products.
• A results-oriented mindset with strong teamwork skills and a pronounced sense of ownership.
• Experience collaborating with software developers, product managers, and understanding the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Experience with Deep Learning is highly desirable. Previous experience in startups and/or product-based consumer/internet companies is preferred.
