About the Role
Are you passionate about leveraging data science and artificial intelligence to address significant global challenges? Esri, the world's leading GIS software provider with ArcGIS used by 75% of Fortune 500 companies, is seeking a Data Scientist for our R&D Center in New Delhi. This role involves applying cutting-edge AI and deep learning techniques to revolutionize geospatial analysis, extract insights from imagery, and derive value from location data. You will be instrumental in developing tools, APIs, and AI models that empower geospatial analysts and data scientists with the latest advancements in spatial data science, AI, and geospatial deep learning.
This is an exciting opportunity to develop foundation and task-specific deep learning models for various GIS data modalities, including satellite imagery. If you have a passion for deep learning applied to remote sensing and GIS, enjoy building AI and deep learning models, and are fascinated by maps or geospatial datasets/imagery, Esri is the ideal place for you.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deploy tools, APIs, and pre-trained models for geospatial AI applications.
- Integrate the ArcGIS platform with popular deep learning libraries such as PyTorch.
- Create foundational models for computer vision, natural language processing, location intelligence, and multimodal data fusion.
- Design and implement AI agents and assistants to automate various GIS tasks.
- Author and maintain geospatial data science samples utilizing ArcGIS and machine learning/deep learning libraries.
- Curate, pre-process, and post-process data for deep learning models, transforming it into actionable geospatial information.
- Conduct comparative analyses of different deep learning model architectures to identify optimal solutions.
Requirements
- A minimum of 1 year of professional experience in Python, with a focus on data science and deep learning.
- Proven self-starter with comprehensive knowledge of machine learning and deep learning, demonstrated through coursework and practical application.
- Expertise in at least one of the following specialized areas:
- Traditional and deep learning-based computer vision techniques, including the ability to develop models for image classification, object detection, semantic and instance segmentation, Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs), super-resolution, and image inpainting.
- Application of Transformer models in computer vision and natural language processing.
- 3D deep learning with point clouds, meshes, or voxels, including the development of 3D geospatial deep learning models like PointCNN and MeshCNN.
- Development of AI assistants and agents for task automation.
- Building foundation models from scratch or through fine-tuning, including multimodal architectures.
- Proficiency in hyperparameter tuning and training models to achieve high levels of accuracy.
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline from a premier institution (e.g., IITs or other top-tier engineering colleges).
- Possession of valid work authorization for India.
Recommended Qualifications
- Experience applying deep learning methodologies to satellite imagery, medical imagery, or other geospatial datasets.
- Familiarity with the ArcGIS suite of products and core GIS concepts.
- Demonstrated practical experience in translating deep learning theory into code, evidenced by significant projects (e.g., internships, research, or personal portfolio).
