Data Scientist
Full Job Description
About the Role
At Euromonitor International, our Data Science team delves into the dynamic world of consumer goods. We work with diverse data sources, ranging from structured databases to semi-structured text in multiple languages, images, and precise numeric values from online retail channels.
We are seeking a talented individual to join our team and contribute to the development of new and enhancement of existing Machine Learning (ML) models. You will play a key role in incorporating client feedback, identifying novel approaches to data analysis, and driving the creation of new products.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate hypotheses and develop proof-of-concept ML models for Natural Language Processing (NLP), Image Processing, and Supervised/Unsupervised Learning tasks.
- Translate industry-specific knowledge into effective and robust models.
- Monitor and ensure the quality and integrity of data used in ML models.
- Communicate complex insights clearly and effectively through written reports and visual representations.
Skills and Proficiencies Required
- A strong background in Mathematics, Physics, Natural Sciences, or Engineering fields, with at least 2 years of relevant working experience.
- Advanced proficiency in Python and a solid understanding of merge-request Git workflows.
- Experience with basic scripting, including Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), regular expressions, shell commands, and foundational web application development.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain ML models: measure performance, manage class additions/removals, orchestrate effective labeling batches, and conduct retraining with impact assessments.
- Capacity to suggest model improvements, propose practical solutions to business challenges, ensure compatibility with existing models, track model experiments, and maintain up-to-date model documentation.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate problem status, actions taken, conclusions, improvements, and limitations.
- Proficiency in selecting appropriate visualizations for different data types, with experience in at least one visualization framework, and the ability to create shareable and dynamic reports or applications.
- A solid understanding of Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) principles, classical supervised/unsupervised learning techniques, core NLP methodologies, and a good grasp of deep learning concepts. Awareness of model and computational complexity is also essential.
