As a Data Scientist at PayPal in Bengaluru/Bangalore, India, you will develop and implement sophisticated data science models and algorithms to address critical business needs. This role requires close collaboration with stakeholders to define data requirements and deliver impactful solutions. Key responsibilities include ensuring data quality and integrity, optimizing data processes for efficiency and performance, and performing advanced statistical analysis and reporting. You will analyze and interpret complex datasets to drive informed business decisions.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Solid technical and data-mining skills with the ability to manage large datasets using tools like SQL, SAS, Hadoop, Python, or R.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate data into actionable business insights and results.
  • Strong business judgment, strategic thinking, and creative problem-solving skills.
  • An organized, analytical mindset with meticulous attention to detail.
  • A proactive, self-starting attitude with the ability to drive projects independently and focus on high-impact tasks.
  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, or a related field with 2-3 years of experience, OR a Master's degree with 1-2 years of experience, preferably in risk management, data science, or loss forecasting within the payments, banking, or financial services industry.
  • Proficiency in SQL for querying relational databases.
  • Experience with at least one statistical programming language (SAS, R, Python).
  • Familiarity with reporting tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Qlik is highly desirable.
  • Experience with predictive modeling techniques including Regression, Classification, Time Series Forecasting, and NLP.
  • Proven ability to structure analyses to solve business problems using data and analytics tools and techniques.
