Full Job Description
PayPal is seeking a Data Scientist 1 in Bengaluru, India, to develop and automate tracking functionality for monitoring volume and solution efficacy. This role involves framing business problems, defining project plans, setting timelines, and coordinating cross-functional teams to deliver effective solutions. You will mine data, including user profiles and transaction details, to solve risk problems using classification, clustering, pattern analysis, sampling, and simulations. Leverage data to conduct GFR business program and initiative analytics, monitoring, and reporting on a scalable platform. Conduct a comprehensive fraud risk framework, covering lifecycle metrics and customer experience for decisioning, and drive cross-team collaboration. Present ongoing performance overviews to senior leadership. Conduct independent research and innovation in new content, ML, and technological domains. Troubleshoot data, system, and flow challenges while ensuring flawless strategy execution. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree with 4+ years of professional experience or a Bachelor's degree with 6+ years of professional experience in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, Statistics, or Mathematics. A data-driven mindset is essential, along with proven experience in employing mathematical, statistical, and data mining methods on real-world problems. Proficiency in data mining and familiarity with SQL and Python BigQuery are required. You must be an intuitive, organized analytical thinker capable of driving analysis end-to-end. Industry experience in payments, e-commerce, or financial services is a plus. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are needed to influence cross-functional teams. Experience with A/B testing is also beneficial.
