The Global Analytics and Data Science team at PayPal is looking for a talented Data Scientist to contribute to our mission of extracting actionable insights from data. Our Payment Analytics and ML team specializes in identifying opportunities and addressing gaps in customer experience, product flows, and payment processing. We leverage statistical methods to inform our product roadmap and provide senior leadership with data-driven strategies.

In this role, you will drive advancements for our SMB Payment Products. You will lead data science projects focused on enhancing products for the SMB sector, impacting PayPal's ability to deliver seamless payment experiences to millions of users globally. Your responsibilities will include:

• Analyzing large, complex datasets to improve products for the SMB segment.
• Applying advanced analytical and statistical techniques to identify trends, issues, and opportunities.
• Conducting deep-dive analyses, including Causal Inference, Pre-Post analysis, Sensitivity analysis, and financial projections, to provide comprehensive recommendations.
• Developing and presenting strategic insights and recommendations to Product and Data Science leadership, influencing product direction.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams such as product development, engineering, and marketing to implement data-driven improvements.
• Engaging with merchants to optimize their authorization processes.
• Mentoring junior team members.
• Leading initiatives to refine existing processes and develop innovative solutions to business challenges.
• Promoting a culture of continuous improvement and testing.

We are looking for candidates with:

• Over 4 years of experience in analyzing multi-dimensional datasets and developing business solutions.
• A Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
• Expertise in SQL, Excel, and visualization tools like Tableau or Qlikview. Proficiency in R or Python is preferred.
• Demonstrable experience with big data technologies such as Teradata, Hadoop/Hive, and BigQuery.
• Knowledge of Python, Jupyter Notebooks, and SQL.
• Exceptional communication skills to effectively convey insights and influence stakeholders.
• Prior experience in applying data science to drive product enhancements in a high-tech setting.
